Right hip total replacement
I had trepidations about this surgery, I left it as long as I could till the discomfort drove me to start the process. Sleepless nights with throbbing pain - strangely alot of pain in my knee. Grinding hip bone on bone, leg collapsing with bolts of pain and permanent limp, all these symptoms grew worse over a 4 year period. Why DID I wait so long?!. I am now 6 weeks post op, WOW.... walking with no limp, sleeping on my new hip, able to pull socks on, no throbbing or aches. I now have good mobility/range of motion which is increasing each week. My fast recovery is (in part) due to my fitmess, I teach Karate, but only in part. I know I have my surgeon Mr Mahmud to thank and his mentors because he was taught to be able to replace my hip through an incision no wider than my 4 fingers. The smaller the entry the less invasive = quicker recovery. The scar never weeped and has healed to the point I now have to 'search' for it with my right hand its so smooth. The Xray I have just had shows the new hip perfectly seated and operating to plan. I am very happy with Mr Mahmuds' 'work' and cant recommend him enough - professional, polite and positive. A great team!
